The taste of winter

Yummy! Winter season is coming around – bringing along delicious apples and cinnamon. An apple a day makes happy – even when it’s not freshly picked. This recipe with cinnamon and apples promises a delightful start into the cold season!

Nut coated baked apples

baking time ca.: 40 min
difficulty level: easy

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 50 g raisins
  • 100 ml rum
  • 4 apple e.g. Granny Smith
  • 1 lemon
  • juice
  • 30 g finely chopped almonds
  • 50 g chopped walnuts
  • 50 g chopped hazelnuts
  • 125 g brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 120 g butter
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 100 ml apple juice

Preparation:

  • Pre-heat oven up to 180 °C (top and bottom heat).
  • Soak raisins in rum.
  • Peel apples, remove core with an apple corer and spread lemon juice on the apples (inside and outside).
  • Mix the nuts with half the sugar and the cinnamon in a bowl.
  • Melt the butter in a pan.
  • Butter the apples, roll in the nut mixture and press firmly. Put the apples in a buttered casserole.
  • Drain the raisins properly and mix with the rest of the sugar and the butter.
  • Fill the apples with this mixture, put a cinnamon stick in each apple, drizzle the apples with melted butter and bake for approx. 35-40 minutes in the pre-heated oven. Take out, serve and enjoy!
